A rare moment of praise from a famous actor
When Mark Hamill—the legendary actor behind Star Wars’ Luke Skywalker—isn’t locked in fiery political debates online, he takes a moment to celebrate the power of eloquence.
The Star Wars icon recently took to social media to heap praise on former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama, calling them “master orators” in a post that underscored just how rare it is to find two such gifted speakers united in matrimony.
A Moment of Unfiltered Admiration
Hamill shared a video clip featuring Michelle Obama’s speech at the Obama Presidential Center, where she highlighted her husband’s historic achievements—from economic recovery to healthcare expansion to ending wars—all delivered with what she described as grace and class.
The actor didn’t hold back. “Uplifting!” he wrote, calling their speeches a nostalgic reminder of a time when leadership prioritized hope over division.
But Hamill isn’t always aligned with the Obamas. Last year, in the wake of Donald Trump’s assassination attempt, the actor shared a darkly satirical digital illustration depicting Trump in a grave, with the years 1946-2024 carved on the tombstone.
The post, which drew mixed reactions, served as a stark reminder of Hamill’s unfiltered—and often polarizing—opinions on the former president.
Will he ever tone it down? Don’t bet on it.
