Bar Brawl Turns Violent: Bottle Smash Leads to Arrest

1609 W Jefferson St, Joliet, USATuesday, June 23, 2026

A violent altercation outside a popular Joliet sports bar has left a 37-year-old man with serious injuries after he was struck in the face with a beer bottle. The incident unfolded late Thursday night near the entrance of Longshots Sports Bar & Grill, where two men engaged in a heated argument that escalated into physical violence.

The Attack and Aftermath

Witnesses reported that the victim suffered a deep laceration on his cheek from the shattered bottle, leaving him bleeding heavily. Emergency responders arrived swiftly, providing medical attention before stabilizing his condition. The suspect, Levale Farley Jr. (23), was taken into custody and later charged with felony aggravated battery.

Farley was booked into the Will County Jail, where court records revealed he had no listed home address. A judge granted him bail but imposed strict conditions: he must surrender all firearms and maintain no contact with the victim.

What Sparked the Conflict?

Police reports indicate the dispute began inside the bar. According to the victim, Farley offered him $5 for a drink under the condition that free drinks were unavailable. When the victim used the money for someone else’s order instead, tensions flared.

Farley allegedly accused the victim of trying to provoke a fight. Witnesses state the victim attempted to de-escalate the situation, but Farley allegedly pushed and shoved him before striking him with the bottle. Farley’s version of events aligns in some details but claims he was pushed and head-butted before retreating to a nearby gas station in fear of further confrontation.

Case Under Review

Prosecutors are currently examining whether Farley’s actions meet the legal threshold for aggravated battery and gathering evidence to strengthen the case. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities determine the full circumstances of the assault.
