Dental Implants in North Maharashtra: A Look at Public Perception

North MaharashtraTuesday, July 14, 2026

In North Maharashtra, a recent study explored how people view dental implants. These implants have changed the way people replace missing teeth, offering better looks, function, and long-term stability. But for this treatment to be successful, people need to be aware of and accept it.

The study involved 276 participants from dental college outpatient departments and community outreach programs. They were asked a series of questions to gauge their awareness, knowledge, attitude, and acceptance of dental implants. The results showed that 55.1% of participants were male and 44.9% were female. Interestingly, women scored higher on the questionnaire than men, with an average score of 10.64 compared to 9.55.

Education and income level played a significant role in how well participants understood and accepted dental implants. Those with postgraduate education scored much higher than those without formal education, with averages of 13.55 and 6.40 respectively. Similarly, people with higher monthly incomes (>₹50,000) had a better understanding of dental implants than those with lower incomes (<₹10,000), with scores of 13.20 and 7.55 respectively.

The study also found strong connections between awareness, knowledge, and attitude towards dental implants. As people's awareness increased, so did their knowledge and willingness to consider implants. The study suggests that public education and better patient counseling are crucial to improving awareness and accessibility of dental implants in North Maharashtra.

Overall, the study highlights the need for more education and outreach to improve public understanding and acceptance of dental implants. By addressing these gaps, more people can benefit from this life-changing treatment. The study's findings have important implications for healthcare providers, policymakers, and the community at large.
