New names, last runs, and retro treats: Springfield's food scene saw some shifts lately
From Pizza to Playground: A Local Icon Rebrands
Springfield’s skyline just got a splash of neon. The once-beloved America’s Incredible Pizza—a name synonymous with endless pepperoni and arcade racket—has traded its caps for a fresh coat of paint. Meet Incredible Food and Fun, the new banner under which this Springfield staple now operates.
The rebrand isn’t just cosmetic. Twenty-five years ago, this place opened as Incredible Pizza Company, a simple buffet where families loaded up on cheesy slices. Today, it’s a sprawling 80,000-square-foot indoor playground stretching across Springfield, Memphis, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and San Antonio. Think rides, games, and photo ops—all in a smoke-free, alcohol-free zone where kids rule and parents breathe easy.
The Last Arepa: Caracas House Hits Pause
A taste of home served one last time. Caracas House, the Venezuelan food truck that brought the sizzle of arepas to Missouri, has closed its windows—at least for now.
Owner Luis Sulbaran arrived from Venezuela at 16, built a life in Missouri, and later returned from Miami to open the truck in 2023. His mission? To fill a gap for Latino families craving the flavors of home. When he announced the truck’s final day on Facebook, the response was immediate: comment sections flooded with pleas for a permanent spot.
So far? No confirmations. The truck’s fate hangs in the balance, but the hunger for Venezuelan cuisine in the heartland remains.
Camp Vibes, Coffee, and Badges: Scooter’s Coffee Brings Back the ’90s
Nostalgia isn’t just a feeling—it’s a limited-edition patch.
Every Wednesday in May, Scooter’s Coffee is handing out retro “camp badge” patches, evoking the lazy, sun-soaked summers of the 1990s. All you need is a stop after 11 a.m.—while supplies last. The Ozarks’ three Scooter’s locations are bracing for lines of adults reliving childhood memories and first-timers discovering what ’90s camp swag feels like.
And the throwback doesn’t stop at badges. The chain’s rolling out a seasonal menu to match:
- Matcha Cream Soda
- S’mores Lattes
- Grape Energy Drink (Red Bull optional, but highly recommended)
It’s caffeine meets campfire, and Springfield’s lining up to take a sip.
